Orcas Family Health Center (OFHC) is succeeding in its mission to “treat all persons regardless of their medical insurance status or ability to pay.”  OFHC was begun 4 years ago with this vision in mind, and has gone through a time consuming series of events to reach this point.

 

                OFHC offers full family medicine services to low income patients via a sliding fee scale.  To qualify, monthly or annual income is verified and compared to the Federal Poverty Guidelines.  Charges are then discounted accordingly.  See the Scale below for income qualifications.  We accept cash, checks, debit/credit cards and can work out a flexible payment plan. 

 

 “We do not want patients in need to avoid seeking health care for financial reasons. Come talk to me, we'll find a way to make it work. Just a little effort from everyone makes great things possible. We perform billing services for all national or international insurance companies. No patient is ever discriminated against by OFHC for any reason: they simply receive the care they need.”

Sliding Fee Scale Eligibility Application

Proof of Income Verification: The following are types of proof that can be used for verification: Paycheck stubs (preferably three months, minimum of 1 month) ● Statement from employer as to proof of wages when stubs are not available ● Statement from unemployment income ● Statement from Social Security or Disability ● Annual W-2 wage statements from all sources ● Gross Income determination from IRS tax return form ● Bank account statements for self-employed

 

If proof of income is not available, an explanation for determining eligibility may be provided and approved by the clinic office manager at the time of the application.

  • “Kids are considered for free health insurance first (Medicaid and Non-citizen programs)  Kids who don't qualify for free insurance are screened for low-cost health insurance (SCHIP) (premiums).”
